Democracy implies the ruling of the majority. However, if that majority is impaired, and someone chooses for the majority; that majority no longer governs itself. That is why freedom of speech is important. We cannot avoid dialogue. We can regulate and orderly forum in which ideas are exposed and given its chance to be tested against reason, rational, logical, hierarchical structures which define reason and logic. As we all know, certain ideas have been proven to be wrong by evidence. Hence, we have to invite all to the table of dialogue and allow us to put through the test of reason and evidence, all that is presented to us.
We have a right to learn and expand our culture, and to understand what someone else is saying. We have an obligation to put it through the test of reason, evidence, and to catalogue it hierarchically in its proper place within the realm of knowledge. That is precisely what university means. Sharing and hearing those things that humans have witnessed, for the growth and development of science and knowledge, which is at the service of humanity.
We are not afraid to enter into dialogue. That dialogue is precisely what our civilization was founded upon.
Freedom of speech is such a basic human right that it would have not needed an amendment to the Constitution. But there is it, so that it is obvious even to those that lack enough intelectual coefficient to understand that the most important thing, the object of the US constitution is the People. For the US Constitution emanates from the Will of the People.
However, we all know in case of war, all those rights are lost. Henceforth, a government in continuos state of war, is not a government of the People. Because what the majority of people want is peace.
How many years do we need to be at war to be freed? It seems to me that a powerful government would not need to be at war. For before a powerful government everybody is at peace, peace reigns.
That is the kind of government We the People want. Dialogue without violence is good; it’s education, it’s University. We the People also have a right to Education, not only peace. Why? Because that’s what we all want! Peace, education, university, dialogue, exchange of ideas, to learn, understand, comprehend, evaluate, grow!
We the People want Life and Happiness. We the People are in every single part of this great planet. We the people have spoken.
